For my second photo assignment I'm going to do animals. I have a wide range of animals that I could photograph. Including bunnies, dogs, and horses.

Photo assignment one, Event
For the first photo assignment we had to use the elements of composition that we had learned so far to take our first photos. I chose to do and event.
Aperture: f 5.6, Shutter speed: 1/200, ISO: 100.
During this assignment I struggled with finding a background that wasn't filled with pick up trucks and trailers. The entire arena was surrounded, but I eventually concluded that having them in the pictures could portray the true atmosphere of a horse show. I learned how to better photograph moving subjects and how to adjust the shutter speed and aperture appropriately.

Pop Art
In this assignment I learned how to better use photo shop. We were told to take a picture of ourselves and then apply different photo shop elements to the picture. These elements included; cropping the picture, adjusting the color levels, and using multiple layers for your final photo. I think this assignment will greatly benefit me in the future because before we did this in class I had never worked with photo shop and using photo shop is a key component to success in this class.
Inspiration post
For the first photo assignment I plan to focus on an event. I have a horse show this weekend and plan to take pictures of people showing their horses in different classes. This will hopefully give people viewing my photos an idea of the atmosphere of a horse show.

Comp. one and two
Assignment Description: This assignment consisted of many elements. The first thing we had to do was learn 11 different elements of photo composition. After that we were to go around the school and practice taking photos. We then had to learn how to upload them to adobe bridge. Finally we made a blog and we're now uploading our photos to our newly created blogs.
Rule of thirds.
Pattern.
Symmetry.
Texture.
Depth of field.
Framing.
Perspective.
Space.
Balance:
Color.
Rule of thirds.
I chose this picture for rule of thirds because the rabbit's eye is at the top line of the photo. |
Pattern.
I chose this picture for pattern because you can clearly see the square pattern that makes up the wooden floor. |
I chose this picture for symmetry because both sides of the tree look extremely similar |
Texture.
I chose this picture for texture because you can see the different textures in the wood in the close up shot. |
Depth of field.
I chose this picture for depth of field because the leaves are in the foreground with the brick wall in the background. |
Lines.
I chose this picture for lines because the corners and pillars of the railing are very defined. |
Framing.
I chose this picture for framing because the doorway seems to create a frame for the rest of the hallway. |
Perspective.
I chose this picture for perspective because the staircase looks much better from the top than the bottom. |
Space.
I chose this picture for space because the pot and flowers fills up the entire right side of the picture but the left side is left blank. |
Balance:
I chose this picture for balance because the colors in the background compliment the bench and nothing looks out of place. |
Color.
I chose this picture for color because the bright pink of the flower instantly draws your eye to it. |
What I learned: In the assignment the main thing that i learned was how to use the different elements of composition. The one that i found the most helpful was the rule of thirds. Before I took this class I had no idea that the subject was not supposed to be completely centered in the photograph. The other element that I found most useful was depth of field. It really adds to a picture if you have something to focus on in the foreground or the background, it helps keep the picture from becoming flat or too busy.

About Me
My name is Emily and I'm taking digital photography because i need a technology credit. I'm a junior and I've lived in Saline my entire life. I spend a lot of my free time with my horses. I have two horses, Stardust and Gypsy, and they take a lot of commitment. I'm also one of the two captains of the Saline equestrian team. I also show my horses in 4H, IEA, and hunter shows. If I'm not with my horses I'm most likely with my friends, we're pretty much joined at the hip. I love shopping, watching scarry movies, going to concerts and just hanging out. I hope to one day become a doctor which might be part of the reason why Grey's Anatomy is my favorite tv show. Hopefully this post gave you a little insight into my life.
